Winner Revealed

The winner of my Benefit Lash Bash giveaway is the beautiful Alex C!  Congratulations!

L'OREAL Magic Nude Liquid Powder Review

I have wanted to try the L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation for a while now.  As luck would have it, I was offered to participate in a review of the product through SheSpeaks.  They sent me a bottle to try out and share with you.  I was not paid for this review and the thoughts are my own.

About L’OrĂ©al Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Makeup:
This revolutionary liquid-powder formula glides on and transforms on contact to a fresh, powder-like finish for a look that’s flawless, yet undetectable. The lightweight foundation with SPF 18 will make you feel like you aren’t wearing makeup at all!

To apply: Shake well. For best results, pour just a few drops onto fingers and apply directly onto skin. Not recommended for use with a sponge or brush.

The first thing that I noticed about the bottle is that the opening in fairly small.  This is good if you are wanting to use a small amount or if you are wanting to prevent spills.  Of course I am a bit of a klutz, so you can see that I still made a mess with my bottle.

Of course, the next thing that I did was play with the foundation by testing it on the back of my hand.  I just had to see how it could go from liquid to powder.  It is actually really neat to watch and it feels so silky and soft while you are rubbing it in.  I applied the foundation all over my face using my fingers and noticed that the coverage was very even and it truly did have a light powder finish.  This foundation is very lightweight and perfect for anyone wanting light to medium coverage.  There are twelve shades to choose from and at $12.95 per bottle, this is a steal.  I also love the fact that it contains a sunscreen as I believe that every girl needs protection from the sun.

Here is a photo of myself before the foundation, directly after (in direct sunlight), and again after a long day of teaching.

My Take
While this foundation is perfect for those who like a light foundation, I have several flaws that I like to conceal.  In fact, L'Oreal True Match concealer is my best friend!  This foundation did not give me the coverage that works best for me.  I plan to use this during the summer when I tend to use lighter foundations.  My skin is a lot easier to manage in the summer when the sun fixes all my problem areas.  Also, who likes a heavy foundation in the heat? ;)  I definitely think that this foundation is worth the money and I enjoy the technique of turning from a liquid to powder.  I am a fan of the L'Oreal line and would certainly recommend this product to a friend.

I hope this review helps anyone who is interested in trying L'Oreal Magic Nude

Lash Bash - Benefit Giveaway

Hello lovely ladies!  I am so excited to share some great news with you!  I was chosen by Ispy and Benefit to host a Lash Bash this Saturday.   What is a lash bash, you ask?  I was sent a cosmetic bag full of Benefit cosmetics for myself and 10 sets of Benefit samples in cute little goody bags for my friends.  At the end of this post, I will give YOU a chance to win some of the products from my bash!

*Please excuse the quality of the photos in this post.  My camera was dead, so I had to use my phone in poor lighting.  I just couldn't wait any longer to share.

My Loot

Guest Gifts

Of course I was too impatient to wait for my party, so I decided to test out the products a little early.  Hey, I have to be informative at my party. ;)  Here is a picture of a look that I created this Saturday:

I received several compliments, so I would like to share how I acheived this look.  Most of the products used are from my hostess kit.

1. I usually apply primer, but on this day I forgot to.  I started with Sephora 10 Hour Wear Perfection Foundation ($20 sephora.com).  My shade was matched perfectly for me using the Color IQ.  You can learn more about that HERE.  I applied it using my Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush ($12.99 everydayminerals.com)

2. Next, I applied Revlon Nearly Naked Powder in Medium ($7.99 at local retailers) using my all time favorite powder brush.  I use IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Powder Brush ($24 Birchbox).

 3. Next I used gimme BROW ($22 benefitcosmetics.com) in  light/medium on my brows to help soothe and shape them.

4. After that I applied new Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow ($20 each benefitcosmetics.com) in Bikini Tini and Bronze Have More Fun.  These are my new favorite shadows.  I applied it directly with my fingers.  The product melted to my fingers upon touch and glided effortlessly on my lids.  I used Bikini Tini all over the lid and smudged Bronze Have More Fun in my creases.

5. Next I applied Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (100 point perk Sephora) on my upper lid right along the lash line.

 6. Following that, I applied two coats of the infamous Yes, They're Real mascara ($23 benefitcosmetics.com).  It really does make your eyes pop!

 7. The next step is to sweep some Hervana "good karma" face powder on your cheeks.  This powder blends nicely to give a soft glow.  I love that it is not overpowering, but makes you appear bright and alert.

8. Now I used Benetint ($30 benefitcosmetics.com) on my lips. This product looks blood red, goes on like a liquid, and dries quickly as a perfect rosy hue.  It can look a bit intimidating in the tube, but I have used this for a long time as both a lip and cheek stain and it is very natural.

9. Finally, I topped my lips with American Beauty Enduring Beauty Lipstick in Plum Crazy ($14.50 Kohls).  This is one of my favorite shades for my skintone and I receive compliments all the time.  It is very long lasting and leaves lips nice and smooth.

Ok, now for the part you have all been waiting for...

THE GIVEAWAY

I will be giving away a Benetint stain deluxe sample (value $8), a travel size They're Real mascara ($7.50), and deluxe sample of Sugarbomb lipgloss ($10) for a total retail value of $25.50.  I will also have an additional Sugarbomb lipgloss available on my Facebook page for those who share my page with their friends.  Be sure to check out my facebook page for more details.

Sephora + Pantone Color IQ- Find Your Perfect Foundation Shade

I stopped by Sephora on Saturday and was thrilled to find out that it had a Color IQ.  This device is able to match you with several foundation options in your exact shade. Pretty awesome for those of us who struggle with finding a perfect match.

How It Works
They clean one side of your face then touch the device to your forehead, cheek, and chin.  It then pulls up pages worth of shades that are just for you in multiple brands.  You can choose to go lighter or darker if you wish.  You can organize your selection by coverage, brand, price, etc.  I asked to have my selection emailed to me, which I then took screen shots of and am including in this post so that you can see just how many choices it gives you.

Extra Service
Next, they found a few foundations that they thought would be best for me after asking a few questions.  They tested four brands on me and let me pick two that I liked the best.  They created samples for me to take home and try out.  They were packaged in a cute information card so that I could come back and get exactly what I wanted.

This is an awesome free service that can be very beneficial in finding a foundation that is perfect for you.  I took home a Sephora foundation in the shade from my profile and am in love!  I hate having foundation lines or looking washed out and this foundation blended better than anything I have ever used.  I highly recommend trying it out if you have one near you!
